Day After

Dangyo-no-taki Waterfalls

These waterfalls are located deep in the lush forest of Mt. Yoko in the Tsuma Area of Dogo Island. The largest waterfall (the male waterfall) falls vertically from the overhanging cliff. From the path underneath this overhang you can experience the water fall before you, encircled by the large eroded cliff face. Beside the male waterfall is the gently flowing female waterfall. The Dangyo Shrine building is nestled right inbetween these waterfalls.

The water of Dangyo-no-taki is regarded as sacred 'winning water' and before traditional competitions such as Traditional Oki Sumo or Bull Sumo, the competitors will come to drink it and pray at the shrine.
