Choshi Dam is a picturesque location with a wide park area and walking track. In summer it is a popular location to see fireflies. The cliffs that surround Choshi Dam are composed of Oki Gneiss, the oldest rock of the Oki Islands. This metamorphic rock was formed at high temperature and pressure underground 250 million years ago on the continent. It records the geological history of the Japanese Archipelago.
